TIDER FOOD BANKING NETWORK
We share our local know-how and experiences in food banking system with the global food banking network and support them with donations.
TYPES OF FOOD BANKS
Market
A format that resembles a standard supermarket with cash registers and shopping baskets, where primarily rescued products from waste and complementary purchases are grouped into different categories (such as food, cleaning supplies, clothing, baby products, etc.) and occasionally presented to beneficiaries on shelves or sometimes in baskets. As TIDER, we find this application is the most respectful way for human dignity and actively works to promote itself among the people that in need since individuals can make their own choices based on their needs.
Soup Kitchen
A global format that we applied in our country. It offers a significant advantage on the fight against waste, especially by quickly turning products close to their expiration date into meals that can be consumed immediately. Meals are often cooked with the support of our volunteers. In some examples, beneficiaries eat their meals at the soup kitchen, while in others, they come to pick up their meals, and in some cases, registered individuals receive home deliveries.
Warehouse
Products collected through donations and purchases are usually organized in boxes and delivered to beneficiaries. While it is particularly preferred during disaster periods, delivering product packages without knowing the specific needs of individuals can sometimes lead to waste.
